Day 26: Which Friends character are you?

A Very Random Challenge.

I think we all know I’m the female Chandler.

Day 25: First video game console you owned?

A Very Random Challenge.

Dude. The Atari 2600 was the bomb. I lived for Centipede and Super Breakout. And I was good. Like expert level. The last time I was in my childhood home (probably 10 years ago), I checked the top of my old closet and the console was still there. Sadly, it’s gone to Video Game Heaven, most likely during some sort of spring cleaning. By the way, my favorite thing as a kid was skipping school to go with my mom on bowling league days, so I could play all the video games. The bowling alley had the best games.

Day 24: A haiku about sleeping

A Very Random Challenge.

I love me some sleep.

Sleep is my favorite thing.

I envy my cat.

Day 23: Next band you’d like to see live?

A Very Random Challenge.

I really wanted to see Bob Schneider last week. He is awesome. I couldn’t get anyone to go with me. Always ready to see my Counting Crows. I hope OK Go comes to Houston soon – they might be the band I most want to see live. I love them.

Day 22: Explain your future in exactly ten words

A Very Random Challenge.

Oh, I don’t know, I’ll be older and more awesome.

Day 21: Last cartoon you watched?

A Ver Random Challenge.

The last cartoon I watched was Gravity Falls with my kids last week. It’s a smart, funny, mystery-centered show and the character Mabel makes me laugh. Mabel is voiced by Kristen Schaal, who is just great. If you have 11 year olds, they will enjoy it. If your 40 and have an 11 year old, you will like the humor of the show.

Day 20: A picture of you far away

A Very Random Challenge.

Did I tell y’all I lost everything on my laptop including my photos? Yeah. At least until I get a genius to look at my old hard drive. So, most of my photos are either gone or have to be scanned again. The best phot I could find was one from the Toad the Wet Sprocket/Counting Crows concert last July, taken by the bassist for Toad. How cool is that? I’m in a black and white chevron
top in the middle of the pic, third row.

Day 19: A picture of you in your hometown

A Very Random Challenge.

It’s Thursday, so let’s throw it back to 1974, 3 days old, with my mother, coming home to my first house in Shreveport, LA.

Day 18: A picture of you with someone awesome

A Very Random Challenge.

Without question, my awesome person would be my grandmother, Patsy. She was pretty amazing. Kind, generous, a good listener, and lots of fun. She passed away in 2002. I miss her everyday. Before she got very ill, she started IMing and emailing. I’ve kept all of her emails, including her recipe for sweet potato pie. I loved everything about her: that she and my Pappaw ate popcorn for dinner on Sunday nights while they watched 60 Minutes, that she never filled in her name on her “nobody cooks like ________” apron, that she always had peppermints or gum to give me in church, that she said “she-I-T” instead of cursing, and the way she greeted me with a kiss and called me “punkin'” or “sugar dump” (which was shortened from sugar dumplin’.”) I’m sure she’s the reason that I like silly nicknames. I’m sure she’s the reason for most of my good qualities (and one bad – I forget the rolls in the oven just like she did on holidays.)

Here we are in 1992.

Day 17: How do you get in touch with people most often?

A Very Random Challenge.

I admit, I love the age of texting. I text and IM a lot because it’s quick and if it’s just something short, it’s easy. Long chats on IM can be fun. Sometimes the telephone is just the best.
