all about the 80s challenge – Day 21 – The Goonies or Gremlins

This totally goes to The Goonies because THIS:

I had young Sean Astin's picture on my wall for probably 4 years. Maybe 5. This very picture of him in the leather jacket. I know he's 40 now, but to me, this is Sean Astin. The Goonies, White Water Summer, Rudy. No, I don't care for Lord of the Rings when he was a hobbit.

The Goonies was a great movie. Not only was there Sean Astin – there was the young Josh Brolin and the kid from Indiana Jones. And there was adorable red-haired Kerri Green who I thought was so pretty and tall. I don't know if she's actually tall or if that was my short, awkward 11-year old self who perceived her as tall.

Also, the Cyndi Lauper theme song.

And then there was Chunk.

Here's the comparision of Chunk then vs the adult Jeff Cohen (Chunk) now.

Yeah. Who woulda thunk that?

Basically, it comes down to this: The Gremlins had scary little furball monsters that turned into really scary lizard monsters and The Goonies had Sean Astin. I never trusted those gremlins. I didn't trust Furbys either when they came out.
