all about the 80s challenge – Day 19 – Favorite movie soundtrack?

Because I've written the post before for the Movie challenge, here's a repeat:

I've said it many times before, my favorite soundtrack is from Pretty in Pink. That soundtrack is responsible for setting my musical tastes for years to come as well as introducing me to several bands I still love. The soundtrack is perfect for the movie and works superbly as a stand-alone compilation.

For fun, here are some of the songs off the soundtrack. First up is Psychedelic Furs — the original recording of "Pretty in Pink," not the too-perfect one re-recorded for the movie (although the movie version is great).

An amazing song, "Bring on the Dancing Horses" by Echo & the Bunnymen.

"Left of Center" by Suzanne Vega.

And the great Nik Kershaw with the original version of "Wouldn't It Be Good." The original is 100 times better than Danny Hutton's soundtrack version (and this clip is so much easier to watch that Nik with the old mullet).
